Mugachi Khichadi..

Mugachi Khichadi ( my mother's version)

"Soulful"One pot meal  ie Mugachi kichadi.made from yellow split lentil with rice n veggies..is full of protein and carbohydrates..is  a healthy n nutritious  meal  accompanied with cool buttermilk ,roasted papad,lonche( pickle) n any dry bhaji...what is better than this,to beat scorching heat




 Ingredients:-
1 cup soaked mung dal n water drained out
1 cup soaked rice and water drained out
3 1/2 cup water
1 green chilli
1/2 tsp hing
2 crushed garlic flakes
1/2 mustard seeds
1/2 tsp cummin seeds
4-5 curry leaves
1 smaller chopped onion
1 small tomatoes chopped
1 small potatoe's cubes
1/ tsp turmeric
Salt as per taste
1 tbsp oil
Chopped corriander for garnishing

Method:-

Heat oil in a cooker,add hing/asafoetida, mustard seeds,when crackle,add cummin seeds,green chilli,curry leaves,garlic flakes,onion, keep sauting,when onion turns translucent add tomatoes,turmeric.let the tomatoes melt then add mung dal ,potatoes cubes and rice.
Mix it properly, now add salt as per taste, and water.
Put the lid of the cooker and give 4 whistles.
Let the steam release...
Garnish with corriander,and serve hot.
