Akkhya masurchi sukhi bhaji
Akkhe masur means ..whole red lentils which is very common dal among maharashtrian people....It was my favourite side dish since childhood...is made using special homemade malwani masala..and garam masala...which my mother makes at home and store for long run...
Ingredients:-
1 cup whole red lentil/masur dal ( soaked overnight or 4-5 hours)
1 cup water
Salt as per taste.
1 tbsp malwani masala.
1/2 tbsp garam masala.
1/2tsp turmericpowder.
1tbsp roasted sesame seeds
1tbsp dry coconut grated.
1 clove
1/2 corriander seeds
Bit of cinnamon
3-4 garlic cloves
1 big onion. . (Half finely chopped and half for grinding ).
1 tomato finely chopped.
Handful of coriander for garnishing
1 tbspn oil
method:-
Heat oil in a vessel.
Add finely chopped onion.
Fry till it turns lil brown.
Then add all masala powders one by one.keep sauting.
Add finely chopped tomatoes.mix well and put on the lid for a minute or two.
Remove the lid.. add soaked masur dal and mix properly..add salt and 1 cup water .
Put the lid again .let the lentil cook properly.
Meanwhile roast coconut, sesame seeds...onion..cinnamon..garlic..coriander seeds...and cloves till brown colour.
Cool the roasted mixture and grind to a fine paste.
Check with the lentil..if cooked.and water content disappears. .add the paste and mix well.
When you see that the masala is cooked and bhaji is dried...remove it from the flame and garnish with coriander .
Serve hot with hot chapati/ roti or rice bhakri .
